Privacy

Last updated July 23, 2026

A dream told out loud at 6 a.m. is one of the most private things a person can say. Dreamsay is built so that this privacy comes from the architecture of the app, not from a promise. This page describes what actually happens to your data — every claim here matches how the software works.

Your voice never leaves your device

When you record a dream, transcription happens on your iPhone using Apple's on-device speech engine. The audio recording is never uploaded anywhere — not to us, not to Apple's servers, not to any third party. Once transcription completes, the audio file is deleted from your device. The one exception: if a recording can't be transcribed in your language, the audio stays on your device so you don't lose the dream — and it is still never uploaded.

Your dreams never live on our servers

Your journal — transcripts, readings, symbols, notes — is stored in your private iCloud database (CloudKit), which only your Apple account can read. We cannot see it. When the app requests a reading, your dream text is sent to our server for that single request, processed in memory, and returned. It is not stored, and it never appears in server logs.

No accounts, no passwords

Dreamsay has no sign-up. Your device authenticates itself using Apple's DeviceCheck, so there is no email address, username, or password attached to your journal — nothing to leak and nothing to lose.

What our servers do store

Three small things, none of them dream content: an anonymous device identifier from Apple's DeviceCheck, your subscription state, and usage counters for the free tier's weekly reading quota. That is the complete list for the app.

Analytics

Cloudflare provides privacy-preserving, aggregate analytics for this website, such as page views and broad traffic sources. It does not use cookies to follow you across websites.

Google Analytics is optional. It does not load unless you choose “Allow analytics” in the notice on this site. If you allow it, Google Analytics may set first-party analytics cookies and receive information about pages viewed, referrers, approximate location, and browser or device type. Advertising storage, advertising user data, and ad personalization remain disabled.

Your choice is stored in your browser so we can remember it. You can change or withdraw it at any time through “Analytics settings” in the footer. We never send dream content to analytics. The app collects no analytics on your dream content, ever.

Deleting everything

In the app's settings you can delete your entire journal — from your device and from your private iCloud database — in one action. Because our servers never stored your dreams, there is nothing else to ask us to erase.
